This version of the french toast recipe uses nutritional yeast and therefore you get not only delicious sweet breakfast but also so important nutrient! Nutritional yeast is very rich in vitamin B12 which vegans can be something low.
French toasts taste even better while serving with hot coffee or tea but why not to try something different and serve them with a cold beverage? You can try delicious cashew iced coffee with cinnamon!
Vegan French Toast Recipe
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 5 minutes
Serving: 2 (2 slices each person)
Ingredients:
4 slices of your favourite multigrain bread
1 cup full fat coconut milk
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 tsp mixed spice
1/2 cup hazelnuts, chopped
4 tbsp almond meal
2 tbsp nutritional yeast
2 tbsps vegan margarine/butter
2 cups mixed berries
Chopped nuts, for garnish
Instructions:
- Mix coconut milk with maple syrup, almond meal, mixed spice, chopped hazelnuts, and nutritional yeast. Soak each side of the bread slices for 30seconds.
- Heat 1 tbsp of margarine or butter in a large frying pan. Place 2 slices of the bread onto to pan and cook them for 2 minutes. Then flip over and cook the other side for 2 minutes. Remove fried slices from the pan. Add remaining butter and place another 2 slices. Do the same.
- Prepare 2 plates. Put 2 slices on each plate. Top with mixed berries, flowers, and chopped nuts.
- Enjoy!
