Now there is an easy way how to make your own vegan snickers bars, gluten-free, dairy-free, refined sugar-free, comfortably at your home! You won’t recognize that these snickers bars are vegan because they are so good, just like the original! Filled with a crunchy base, gooey sticky caramel layer, covered in dark chocolate, and whole peanuts!
I love any kind of chocolate bars with nuts or seeds. I always look for vegan chocolate bars (Snickers, Twix or Bounty) when I am in a supermarket and I always leave disappointed because they don’t sell them there.
How to solve this problem? Well, there is nothing easier than making these chocolate bars by myself, in the comfort of my own kitchen. I know exactly what’s in my Snickers bars plus I enjoy them more because of all the effort, love, and time I put in making them. Do you agree??
If you too get easily dissapointed because you can’t buy vegan chocolate snikcers bars in your local food store or supermarket, I really reccomend you trying these delicious and fairly easy vegan snikcers bars. They are easier to make that it seems!
Anyway, to be completely honest here, it also makes me quite angry that everything vegan is always (or almost always) double price than a regular non-dairy product. I mean, why????
I found out it’s exactly cheaper to make your own Snickers bars at home. Even with vegan ingredients, such as dairy-free chocolate, coconut oil, maple syrup etc., it still works out cheaper than store-bought vegan Snickers bars!

What do you need to make the vegan snickers bars?
- Desiccated coconut. If you don’t have or can’t find any desiccated coconut in a supermarket, use shredded coconut instead. Additionally, desiccated coconut can be replaced with moist coconut flakes or almond meal.
- Coconut oil. This recipe will work with melted coconut oil as it’s easier to prepare the base like that. I usually place my coconut oil in a microwave to melt it.
- Vanilla extract
- Maple syrup. Because you want to create the right caramel-like texture. Plus it adds sweetness!
- Sea salt
- Coconut milk. You use only a thick, solid part. Discard the liquid from the can. You want to use full-fat coconut milk as it gives you the best results and it’s also the yummiest!
- Peanut butter. It has to be smooth, creamy peanut butter as it creates an authentic, caramel texture just like the real Snickers bars!
- Peanuts, unsalted
- Dairy-free dark chocolate. I used 80% cacao content. Oddly satisfying!

Equipment
- Square or Rectengular Baking Dish
Ingredients
Base
- 1 1/2 cup desiccated coconut
- 1/2 cup coconut oil melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 2 tbsp maple syrup optional
Caramel layer
- 1/2 can coconut milk only the thick part
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1 cup smooth peanut butter
- 1 cup unsalted peanuts
Chocolate Coat
- 1 bar dark dairy-free chocolate
- 1 tsp coconut oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C/340°F.
- In a bowl, mix all the ingredients for the base together. They should form a crumbling dough that sticks together when pressed. Press the dough into your bake dish (square or rectengual).
- Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and set aside.
- Meanwhile the base is baking, make the caramel layer. In a small saucepan, combine coconut milk, vanilla extract, maple syrup, and peanut butter. While stirring constantly, bring to boil and cook for 10 minutes. The filling should start thickening up and resemble caramel. Pour the caramel filling over the base in the baking dish and set in a freezer for 10-15 minutes.
- Cover the caramel layer with the whole unsalted peanuts.
- In a heatproof bowl, combine dark chocolate with coconut oil. Melt it above the bowl with boiling water while stirring constantly.
- Remove the baking dish from the freezer and cut it into 12 bars. Remove them from the baking dish and dip them in the melted chocolate.
- Set it in a fridge for additional 15 minutes.
