Jump to RecipePrint RecipeWhen a holiday season comes, I can’t wait to make or bake anything that includes apples. Somehow, apples are associated with Thanksgiving, Christmas dinner, and of course autumn!
Apples are an incredibly versatile fruit. I love apple for breakfast in a porridge, like in this apple porridge with tahini. They are great as a side dish, in salads or in Buddha bowls, like I did in this Buddha bowl with quinoa and lemon-herb marinated tofu. So good!
And, of course, apples make amazing desserts! And that’s exactly my reason why I want to introduce to you this absolutely delicious no-bake spiced apple pie! It’s vegan and gluten-free and doesn’t require a lot of your precious time.
Spiced apples have this absolutely stunning taste and scent that can’t be described easily. But I am sure you know what I am talking about!

Easy Vegan Spiced Apple Pie
Equipment
- 24 cm round pie dish
- Blender of a high-speed food processor
Ingredients
To make the crust:
- 1 cup dates soaked in water
- 2 cups nuts such as walnuts, hazelnuts or macadamia
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 2 tbsp chia seeds soaked in 1/4 cup water to make gel
- water if needed
To make the filling:
- 3-4 medium apples cut into thin slices
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- 1/4 cup maple syrup dark
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp cardamom
Instructions
- Add all the ingredients for the crust (except water) to your blender or a high-speed food processor. Process until the thick crust is made that doesn't crumble easily. It should be more like a paste.
- If the crust dough appears to be too dry, add a little bit of water and then process it again.
- Press the crust into your prepared pie dish and set it aside in a fridge to thicken.
- Now prepared the apple filling. Mix all the spices and maple syrup in a shallow bowl. Coat slices of apples in the bowl on each side.
- Heat a little bit of coconut oil in a frying pan. Add coated apple slices and fry them on each side on medium heat. You might have to repeat this step in small batches, depending on the size of your frying pan.
- Arranged fried apple slices on your pie crust according to your liking. If you have any remaining spices or maple syrup, you can pour it on the top.
- Let the apple pie cool completely and then cut it into slices. Enjoy!
