Note: This type of recipe for pickled cabbage will give you pickled cabbage rather than fermented cabbage. The fermentation process takes much longer than just a few hours. The proper fermentation process can take longer than 20 days! This is also the amount of time you need for the high quality fermented cabbage. This recipe will create pickled cabbage that usually doesn’t have a long life and it should be used within the next few days.

Easy Pickled Red Cabbage
Equipment
- glass jar
- sealable container
Ingredients
- 1 medium size red cabbage shredded
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup rice wine vinegar white
- 1/4 cup wine vinegar red
- 2 cloves garlic peeled and minced
- 3 bay leaves
- 1 tsp cumin seeds optional
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper freshly cracked
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
Instructions
- Shred your cabbage and put it in a container with a lit
- Mix all the ingredients for the marinade and pour it over shredded cabbage.
- Close the container with lit and leave it for fermentation for 3-4 hours. Don't put it in a fridge, it should ferment at room temperature.
- After the fermentation time, let the container with fermented red cabbage in a fridge chill for at least 1 hour.
- Remove bay leaves before serving. Enjoy!
